Collecting Puppy

It is advisable to collect puppy earlier in the day, this gives puppy time to get used to their new surroundings before bed time

Bring a blanket or towel from home, this will be rubbed over mum and litter mates to help puppy settle in for the first few nights in your home

Do not invite lots of family and friends round for the first few days, let puppy recover from the journey and stress of leaving their mum, litter mates and familiar surroundings

Arrive to collect your puppy with a puppy create or cat basket for their comfort and safety, we do not advise travelling home on someone's lap as puppies can over heat very quickly in a car and you can end up with a puppy feeling very groggy, being sick or going to the toilet on your lap

Have a small bowl and bottle of water to offer during the journey home

It is advisable not to let puppy out of the car at all on the way home especially where other dogs that may not have been vaccinated have been

Arriving home

Make sure your puppy paper is ready as puppy will need the toilet, let pup out of the basket show them where the paper is and offer a drink of water, let puppy have a wander around to familiarise with the new smells of home then offer a small light feed

let puppy get used to their new home and smells if you spend the day cuddling puppy they will get used to you and not the house and at night time they will whine

Show them where the door is to the garden so they can begin to learn where to go outside to use the toilet
